Be the Expert
One of the big things about marketing is getting your name known. So how do you do that? If you have a business, you've learned something about it right? You know more than the average person. Use that to your advantage, be the expert! What that means is you want to become the "go to" person for your particular area of expertise. It's really very simple to do so, but it does take an effort. Again this is one of those things that is simple but not easy. So here are some ways for you to become the expert. 1. Write-Blogs, free article submission sites or even contributions to local publications all get your name out there. But you must supply a steady stream of submissions. A good example of this is "Dear Abby". I think most of us recognize the name and know what it means. Abby and now her daughter, have been giving advice for decades and are considered "experts. 2.Educate-Many organizations, churches, associations and schools are always looking for speakers. Call around and ask about getting on the agenda. You will be able to get in front of a large group and share your expertise. Be prepared for questions. If you don't know the answer to a question do not bluff. Acknowledge that it is a good question then let them know you will look for the answer and ask for contact information to get back with them. Always do what you say. 3. Network-Get out among people. As you talk to them and you see an opportunity, let them know you will submit content for newsletters, or that you are available to speak in front of their groups. People will start to recognize you as the expert and come to you. In their mind they have a problem but you have the answer! |
