Children's information given away by school system
It is a parent's duty to protect their children from harm. In today's complicated lifestyle it's much harder for us as parents to protect our children than it was for our parents. We do everything possible to teach our children to protect themselves both in the "real" world and on-line. We teach them about predators and safety issues. We stress protecting their personal information. That job has become much harder in Texas. Texas school districts are handing over the information of our children. Not just information, but sensitive information about our kindergarten children. 5 and 6 year olds are now vulnerable to identity theft as a result of their names, dates of birth and social security numbers being turned over to a third party, OZ Systems Texas school districts are handing over Social Security numbers, dates of birth and other sensitive information about the state's kindergarten students to a private software company without permission from the children's parents. I am sure that the company will say that the information is secure. It's not like companies don't claim information is secure all the time. Yet companies lose or expose information all the time also. According to attrition.org as of today's date there are 18 data breaches for the year 2008, the year is not even 18 days old yet. Does that sound like information is secure? I will pray for these children. At the rate companies are losing data, these children are at risk. |
