Information compromise
Today is Feb 3rd 2008 and there have already been 32 confirmed information security breaches this year. The number of affected records since Jan 1st, 2008 is 1,578,636 individual records lost or exposed through data breaches. It's becoming more and more obvious that businesses cannot control the information we are trusting them with. For each of us this is a big problem.. When an identity thief strikes the business is not subjected to the nightmare, we are. We suffer financial losses, health concerns even the loss of our freedom if the thief commits a crime. We already know there is no way to stop identity theft. Everyone but us has control of our information and our children's information. Business entities are letting us down by losing it. We cannot expect a business to keep us safe when we see security breaches being reported on a daily basis. I suggest you take a look at how the breaches occur by going to attrition.org's data loss section. After that please take a look at identity theft protection. Don't be fooled by those who tell you a credit freeze will protect you. A credit freeze won't do a thing to prevent your arrest on charges the thief creates or help you when the IRS comes after you for unreported income that a thief is generating on your social security number. I suggest looking at a true restoration product that will protect all areas of your identity.
