Internet marketing systems

As more people opt to attempt to start home based businesses or legitimate Multi Level Marketing businesses, scammers and schemers are crawling out of the woodwork to take advantage.

Unfortunately many unexperienced new business owners will fall victim to the hype. So in an effort to do my part here are a few bits of advice to save you from getting taken for a ride.

Starting a home based business
1. Do your due diligence-look into the company and check them out through the Better Business Bureau.
2. Be aware of high-pressure sign ups-while most business do use a fear of loss to recruit you the legitimate ones are looking for solid people and will not mind you taking the time to think about it.
3. Do you have a true product or service that you can sell to to others without recruiting them and still make money?
4. What does the compensation plan look like.
5. You will not get rich overnight without effort-it's a business you will have to work.
6. Results do not typically come overnight-be prepared to invest time and effort and in some cases money for advertising etc before the business begins to generate significant income.
7. Be wary of programs that require you to recruit others to get paid.
8. Be suspicious of programs that promise you will make exorbitant amounts of money in a short period of time.
9. Be wary of overly excited sales persons.
10. Be very aware of programs whose product seems overly expensive.

If someone calls you offering a marketing plan that seems too good to be true, it probably is. Also remember if you are in a respectable business with good up-line support, listen to them. They are actually working your business. The gurus have never been in your business so what do they really know about it.

Most of all, use your brain.

Contributor's Note

There are other sources to check if you want to know if a company is truly legit including the Federal Trade Commission and your state regulatory commissions
