IRS Tax scams With the announcement of the government "tax rebate" checks being issued this year, an old e-mail scam has resurfaced. It normally comes to you with IRS included in the subject line. The aim is to get you to give your personal information in order to secure a tax rebate check. If you scroll over the link at the very end it does say "irs.gov". However it is not an IRS link. Just like banks and credit unions, the IRS will not ever contact you by e-mail. If your e-mail server has the capability, report it as a phishing scheme or spam. But delete it immediately and do not click any provided links. Clicking on the link my not get your personal information but you could invite a "hijacker" virus from that site.
